Enter the Insanity – My First Blog Post

Mr IncredibleIf you’re like me, you’ve probably read a story or two about some guy (or gal ) somewhere who runs a website and makes a good living online. It sounds very appealing, but can it really be done? You don’t need to search the Internet very hard to find A TON of websites dedicated to the proposition of easy money or getting rich quick. Is there any truth to any of them? Frankly, I’m very skeptical of any site promising instant riches. Nonetheless, the idea of being your own boss and earning a living online is very appealing to me. To me, this appeal stretches far beyond monetary concerns. Money is a means to an end, not an end in itself. Life is short. To me, having money allows you to live your life on your terms. It means being able to do the things you want to do, read the books you want to read, travel to places you want to go. Life is about experiences. At the end of the day, when you’re buried six feet in the ground, do you really think one of your last thoughts will be “I wish I spent more time in the office?” I know it won’t be mine.

At any rate, this brings me back to this blog. It is my intention to try some of the different methods out there in order to create a steady online income. I’ll use this blog to collect my thoughts, and document my experiences. If this interests you, or if you have ever thought of taking the “online plunge”, you should learn something. Maybe we can learn together. I’ve already dabbled a little in the online world, and I’ll discuss these experiences, and what I’ve learned from them, in future posts. That’s it for now. Time to get to work J

PS. I’ve using wordpress 2.5 for this blog, which is the latest version. You see (or, at least, you should see) a picture of Mr. Incredible at the beginning of this post. I was trying out the ability of wordpress 2.5 to handle media, in this case images. However, the media functionality of wordpress 2.5 does not seem to be working perfectly at this time. I should have been able to upload the picture to my server via the wordpress administration page. However, it just wouldn’t upload. I had to use an FTP program to get the image on the server, and then use the image button to insert the image. I’m not sure what is going on here, perhaps it’s something I’m doing. The ability of wordpress 2.5 to easily handle media is one of its big selling (well, not selling, it is free) features. I’m going to have to look into this a little but more …

PPS and by the way, I did love “The Incredibles”. It’s probably my favorite Pixar movie. I’ve pretty much adopted “Mr. Incredible” as my avatar, so you’ll be seeing more of him in the future (unless the evil mouse shuts me down).
